Arrived for 3 night stay at Yorketown Park, a tiny park which was voted a great nomad park in 2019. No one at office for most of our stay here which wasn't a problem - very casual. Picked a nice grassy site. Amenities spotless and quite modern albeit only 2 toilets and showers. Very small town - basically just one street. Lovely stone cottages. Had to bring awning in cos of the wind. Did a bit of exploring coming across some beautifully painted water tanks. First stop was Port Moorowie which had a farm type theme with horses, sheep, hawk, settlers at a tent, the jetty and sailing boat. This one is privately owned and the others by SA Water. Checked out the lighthouse at Troubridge Point - all the bricks and internals shipped from the UK in 1856. Drove past the windfarm at Wattle Hill then on to Edithburgh where there was the most amazing water tank painted with striped pyjama squid, cuttlefish, leafy sea dragon, white bellied sea eagle, curlew, lighthouse, diver and angel fish - just beautiful. Drove through Coobowie and Stansbury whose tank had a blue swimmer crab, pelican, dolphins, trees, jetty, coastline, ribbon seaweed and oysters. There were hundreds of pigeons in the cliffs near the jetty. Carried on to Port Vincent and this one focused on history, boating, fishing and family culture. Unexpectedly came across one at Yorketown on the way home. This one features canola, wheat, bottlebrush, pink lake, historic buildings and the RFDS plane. Stopped at a few pink lakes - didn't know there were so many and shared a BLT at the Blue Lime Cafe at Stansbury. Another day we stopped at Sturt Bay but nothing much to see here. Checked out Kangaroo Island lookout but was very hazy. Checked out Meehan Hill lookout then on to Marion. Next checked out the modern houses on the beach at Willyama and the Stenhouse Bay jetty but was too cold and windy to walk it. Got a photo of Chinamans Hat Island, popped to Cape Spencer lighthouse then on to Inneston Historic Township. Al stood in nest of ants and looked like he was doing an Irish jig. Still chalk in the ground at the chalk house. Checked out the Ethel wreck at Ethel Beach - actually on the beach below the cliffs. On to Pondalowie Bay then to the surf beach where we had lunch and a swim. Saw dolphins and a family of emus came down to the water. A beautiful beach but no surf as it is known for - sorry Al. Stopped at Berry Bay another beautiful beach but no time to stay. Checked out Corny Point and Point Turton - beautiful spots but nothing here. Saw a couple of shinglebacks and snake on our drives.
