Three and a half hours to Coalmine Beach Holiday Park. A lovely tree studded park and met by kangaroos, yellow collared parrots (28's) and galahs. Amenities old but clean. Went down to check out the beach and surprised to find it wasn't turquoise but a browny red from the tannin in the trees and vegetation - looked like the tea-tree lake at Lennox Head. On the first day of summer we had to dig out some warmer clothes as it was only 17 degrees. Not many shops here. Drove to the Nornalup National Park to see the Giant Tingle Tree - absolutely massive - about 24m in girth. Checked out Circular Pool -the water coming down the rapids ending in the circular pool. Did the Tree Top Walk in the Valley of the Giants. It reaches 40m above the forest at its highest point on a shaky bridge. Should have saved my money cos I never looked down. Then did the Ancient Empire Walk which takes you around and through some of the giant tingle trees. Absolutely amazing that some are still standing with hollow trunks and shallow roots. Checked out Conspicuous Cliffs - the water was pumping with some massive waves and an impressive cliff face back drop. Did a heart in the sand with purple snail shells. Checked out Peaceful Bay which was quite rough. Fish and chip shop on the list so had Hapuka fish which was delicious. Did the WOW Wilderness Cruise. Out in a boat on Nornalup Inlet - was windy but sunny. Greg our tour operator was amazing - never known someone with so much knowledge over so many subjects. He was extremely funny too in his presentations. He had studied in environmental science. Stopped at a beach and had morning tea - lemon cake his mother had made. Checked out beautiful Mandalay Beach - had white caps and rough surf from the wind.
