Good 4 hour drive. Site is further from the beach than we thought...will have to drive most places. Nice site with garden beds between vans. Great for kids with swimming pool, water park, play areas, jumping pillow, go garts, outdoor cinema and games room. Walked to Bluff Point just over 2k's there then 2.3 k to the top. Turtle lookout was good but the water was murky and it was cloudy so not a perfect day to see them. Checked out Keppel Bay Marina - heaps of boats moored and a nice waterfront restaurant. Lovely villas right on the water. Also checked out Rosslyn Bay Marina. Had to replace leaking hose on van. Drove to Emu Park to se the Singing Ship. A monument that looks like the sail of a ship with strategically placed pipes which catch the wind and makes them sing, Came across a great Anzac memorial. History of servicemen, a dugout used by the Americans and a perspex depiction of the troups on the beach at Gallipoli. If you lined it up with the horizon it looked like it would have back then landing on the beach. No vandalism or graffiti - it was just beautiful. The Wreck Lookout next. Thought I was going to see a wreck but it was just the site of a wreck. Walked to Rosslyn Bay lookout then pebble beach - really is just pebbles. Glimpsed a skinny black snake on the way back. Took the track to Fan Rock - absolutely amazing spectical of rock face with fan shaped fissured caused by lava after a volcanic eruption. Al just realised that when we had the 2 bottles of ginger beer stolen at Talebudgera that they had also taken the 6 pack of beer he got off Glen. Thought we would check out Zilzie and Keppel Sands but nothing to write home about. Stopped to check out a sort of breakwall and the walk there was so weird - soft toys hanging in trees - creepy. As the weather hasn't been any good decided to do the Capricorn Caves. Went into a few caves - all above ground. Fascinating to hear the history of how they were formed and to see the stalactites. Caves made of limestone from crushed fossils. Glimpsed a tiny bat and loads of moths. Stopped at The Caves Country Pub for lunch and shared another pizza - Supreme this time and it had so much topping on - yummy. Called back to Turtle lookout to see if we could get better pictures as it was a nicer day. Don't realise how high up you are until you see the tiny turtles below. Checked out Yeppoon Lagoon - a public infinity pool with lifeguards on duty. It's really big and beautiful. Eric gave us some advice on our future travels. Decided to call in to Waterline restaurant for a drink on our last night - $22 for a beer and wine!! Yeppoon was beautiful but such a pity we didn't have nicer weather.
