Left Bargara and said goodbye to Charlie and Jeanie and gave them our facebook info so they can follow our travels. 2 hour drive to Agnes Water Beach Holidays Park. Got a good site right on the walkway to the beach. Pretty windy but got set up ok. Another Bailey in here a Bailey Astro here for 3 months. Quite a small park - no wonder it's always full. Thought markets were on but it was the 1770 Festival with gold coin donation to get in. Bought River a mask to send for his birthday in June and I got a face cream and mask made out of camel milk and hemp oil. Went to Captain Cook Lookout and 1770. 1770 is very small and nothing to do there but relax and fish but there are some big houses right on the water. Al got to surf in the mornings and I went for a walk along beach. Walked to the Discovery Trail Lookout then to Workmans Beach. Visited Paperbark Trail - very short but masses of paperbark trees and climbing ferns. Narrow wooden boardwalk and raised concrete stepping stone which kids would love. Went across road to check out Springs Beach and RedRock. Bumpy drive there and quite a hike back uphill but not too hard. Checked out Chinamans beach on the way back - not as nice as Agnes Water in our opinion. Sat on the beach and caught the last of the sun. Bought t-shirt each from souvenir/booking shop and bought delicious gelato - Al got burnt fig and I got choc coffee hazelnut. Off to explore Gladstone and ended up at East Shores, a very pretty port. Heaps of mud crabs below the boardwalk and noisy bats on the other side of the river. Came across Auckland House and shared a seafood pizza - delicious. Stopped at Red Rock Diner a very quaint quirky food van. Called in to Tannum Sands where we were supposed to stay on our supposed trip last year. An absolutely beautiful spot with great facilities. Sculptured metal seahorse and crab on a plinth the foreshore. Blood moon and Al got some amazing pictures - magical to see. Sky was clear and full of stars. Al has had the best surf here since we left home. Al determined to check out Baffle Creek and as Google said there is nothing there but a creek! Drove to 1770 o watch the sunset - just beautiful - more great drone shots. Checked out Agnes Water Tavern and had our last dinner here. Crispy skin salmon for me and lamb shank for Al - another delicious meal. Got talking to gent called Dennis who did the trip we are doing in 4 months!!! Exchanged FB details.
