The park is right on the beach but it is thick with seaweed/seagrass and a bit on the nose. Amenities are OK - hot and strong. Walked along beachfront and pier where a pacific gull picked up a sea urchin off the rock shelf in the ocean and was dropping it on the rocks to break it. Did the 10k walking trail expecting to stop halfway at the Priory Inn only to get there and it was closed - apparently had been for about three years but is still in all the tourist books and advertised around town. Went to the Dongara Hotel for lunch instead. Went up the 130 steps to the lookout, passed Grannys Beach, walked along the boardwalk and then by the river. Passed a massive beehive built into the side of the hillside. Crossed the Irwin Bridge and past the old post office/library and the old police station and courthouse - beautiful sandstone buildings. Walked along Moreton Terrace with the Moreton Bay fig trees which had been plated in 1906 - just beautiful. Drove into Geraldton stopping at the Leaning tree on the way. Geraldton waterfront is very pretty with a great play area and waterpark for the kiddies. The water is a beautiful turquoise. Had lunch at the Dome cafe - another beautiful building with a beautiful painted dome in the ceiling and seating nooks inside. Checked out the Giant Marble called the Horizon - pretty cool - everything is upside down. The sky is on the bottom, grass on the top and ocean in the middle. Went to the HMAS 2 memorial - another dome with 645 seagulls making up the roof representing the lost sailors. Walked along Esplanade and saw seals basking on the rocks. Did a shop at our first Aldi since QLD - top of the list was chocolate :):).
