Five hour drive to Cairns with coffee stop at Tully. Al had photo in the bug gumboot which depicted the highest amount of rainfall they'd had there - wettest town in Australia. Small tight spot in the park and Al had to have a break cos he was coughing and knackered. Made use of the food van for dinner - chicken, chips and coleslaw - 2 for $25 and it was beautiful. Woke up with vertigo so lost a day. Walked into Cairns wharf and stopped at Hemingway Brewery and shared a pizza. Bit of a trek back as we hadn't walked for a while. Pretty cloudy with a slight drizzle of rain but still 28 degrees, even had a quick dip in the pool. Vertigo back the next day so another lost day. Al got the bumper bar and inner wheel guard replaced which took most of the day. Walked to FNQ Brewery and Al got hid Croc's Piss rum, stubby holder and t-shirt and I ordered Dale the Croc Coffee Espresso for his birthday. Did the Kuranda tour. Picked up at park by bus and taken to Cairns Skyrail Smithfield station to board the cable car. I don't do heights so it was sweaty palms all the way up for about an hour. The car stops for photo shoots a couple of times on the way up. 3 hours free time to look around Kuranda and have lunch. Village not as nice as Mount Tambourine - not nearly so much to look at and some shops were closed. Lunch at the Rainforest View restaurant - BLT & chips which was ok. Train journey back was 2 hours and best part of tour. Interesting commentary with a stop at Barron Falls lookout but by now it was raining. Actually started raining while we were at Kuranda. After that went to night markets but not much here either. Wished we had known there were eateries outside the mall as they looked really good - we had thai for $12.90. Didn't get to do what we had hoped here with Al being sick, then me and bad weather.
