Arrived Pine County Caravan Park, nice grassy sites. Jumping pillow and playground and older but spotless amenities. Also have glamping tents. Checked out the Umpherston sinkhole with beautiful gardens of plants, palms and ferns. Possums come out at night. On to the Blue Lake - almost as jaw dropping as the pink lake. We were lucky to catch the intense colour as it changes from grey to blue. Saw the pump house and walked up to the Rook wall lookout - 170 steps. Never seen or heard so many corellas - really noisy in the morning and before sunset. Checked out Engelbrecht caves where we had a very informative guided tour. One of the caves runs under the Jubilee Highway and there is a crystal clear underground lake which is frequented by divers. Engelbrecht had a distillery and used to empty the byproducts into the main street until the locals complained. He then took them in barrels back to his property and tipped them own what he thought was a dry well. He then approached the butcher and other businesses and disposed of their waste here too. When the cave was discovered years later they had to remove tonnes of rubbish but a lot still remains including bones and household rubbish. Then checked out the Cave Gardens in town famous for its rose gardens. There were various viewing platforms and the bees had taken up residency in the rockface - there were thousands of them and honeycomb hanging down the walls. Drove to Kilsby sinkhole bu tit was viewing by appointment only. Then went to Little Blue Lake where Al had a quick dip. Only supposed to be 12 degrees but Al said it was warmer than that. Lots of midgies. Next stop Mount Schank volcano. Walked up to the rim - 1038 steps - had to stop a few times to catch my breath. Great views from up here and Al got a dronie of the crater. Made out way to Port Macdonnell where we got photos of the custom house, the lobster man, a german mine washed up in 1943 and the painted community hall. Had lunch at the Periwinkle cafe - southern rock lobster and the ocean platter consisting of grilled flake, panko crumbed calamari, panko prawns, herb and prawn twists with chips and salad - yummo. Port Macdonnell has the biggest fleet in Australia for Southern Ocean lobster. Went on to Cape Northumberland, SA's most southern point and saw a seal in the water below. Drove to Ewan ponds past Feasts Museum which has heaps of car memorabilia and sandals along the fenceline - approx 1300. Stopped at the Allendale sinkhole which was in the middle of the Riddock Hwy and is only accessible or divers.
