Two and a half hour drive to Pink Lake Tourist Park. An older park with some weird set ups for sites but we've got plenty of room on ours. It has the most popular jumping pillow of all the parks we have been. There would be 20 kids bouncing around on there. Amenities are old but good, hot and strong although at our end there are only 2 showers so you have to be quick. Put up our Chrissie decorations so we're all set. We're under a gum tree which drops nuts on the van which sound like gunshots and make you jump. Bumped into Malcolm and Julie who we met at Fremantle at the shops. Couldn't find any decent surf for Al so the first beach we visited was Twilight Beach as it was a bit protected from the wind. A famous beautiful long beach with gorgeous turquoise water and white sand. West Beach was our next beach - 121 steps down and a good walk to where the surf was although it was too rough and Al couldn't get out. The best point to get in here is from Chapmans Point which is a walk down the cliff. Drove to Bandy Creek and Taylor St Quarters where we had a beer and wine then on to the Rotary Lookout. Did part of the Great Ocean Drive stopping at Observatory Point and then Observatory Beach - 138 steps down to this one which is ok going down but painful coming back up with all our stuff and the board in the wind. Checked out Ten Mile Lagoon but the Eleven Mile Beach road was closed maybe due to fires in the area. Watched the kitesurfers at Fourth Beach then Salmon Beach and Blue Haven. This coastline is just stunning. There are great views over the Recherche Archipelago otherwise known as the Bay of Isles. Christmas day started with croissants and we rang all the relies. Had a snorkel and swim at Salmon Beach. Back at the van Al made his chocolate brownie cheesecake and we feasted on ham, chicken,

Asian salad and snow pea and peach salad. Boxing day popped to RAC park to wish Amanda and V a merry christmas. Drove to Cape Le Grande National Park to check out the furthest beach - Wharton. An 80k drive partly on dirt and single bitumen road - brings back memories. What a stunning beach which you can drive on and there were plenty of people and cars here. Beautiful turquoise water and white powdery sand - I looked like crumbed chicken when we left cos of the wind. Spent more time at Salmon beach it seems to be the more protected if you can find the right spot. Had a snorkel and found a lure caught in the rocks. Popped into 33 Degrees for rehydration - $24 - won't be visiting here again. Back to Cape Le Grande and Lucky Bay and it was so beautiful we decided to stay and will visit the other beaches another time. A massive beach - just stunning. Must have been about 300 cars on the beach which is white and pristine. Just beautiful here. This beach is famous for the roos and we saw a small one on our way out. Called into Lucky Bay Brewing on the way home :) Had a beach to boab lager. New Years Eve was pretty quiet in the park - didn't do fireworks - had a quiet one. Walked along the foreshore and got some shots of the whaletale and walked along the jetty but it wasn't sunny so didn't get any photos. Another day we checked out the Museum markets then drove back to Cape Le Grande to attempt Frenchmans Peak. It's a grade 5, 262 metre steep hike. I was so stoked that I did it. Had a stumble coming down a steep bit, Al thought he was going to lose me but all ended well. Love driving past it and thinking "We climbed that". There were a couple of people doing it in bare feet - they said they could get a better drip and some dads with toddlers on their shoulders. Bumped into a fella from Sunderland on our way down. After this went to Hellfire Bay, another stunning beach. A rogue wave bowled me over - Al just saw my legs in the air and I lost my hat and sunnies. Hat floated but had to search for my Maui Jims - luckily Al found them in the crystal clear water. Called into the brewery on the way home again. Typsy Jypsies were the entertainment and it was packed. Al go up early one morning to capture the sunrise and Observatory Point, Twilight Beach, and the whaletale on the foreshore. Back to Cape Le Grande and Thistle Cove, another beautiful beach where we swam and sunbathed and checked out the Whistling Rock. Al had rego check done on car - fella at Florrisons wasn't very helpful. Finished our time at Esperance with another day at Salmon Beach and pizza at the Lucky Bay Brewery - very tasty.
